Surfin' is the only Way / BON VOYAGE!

Sub Rosa: FESTINA LENTE

Apresúrate despacio, pues quien sin fallos actúa con seguridad, es mejor que el temerario y audaz.

“Σπεῦδε βραδέως, i.e. Festina lente. 

Este proverbio presenta una graciosa apariencia de enigma, ya que consta de palabras opuestas entre sí. Por ello, pertenece a la categoría de adagios, que incluye en su formulación una ἐναντίωσιν (una contradicción) cuyo ejemplo sería decir δυσδαίμων εὐδαιμονία (infeliz felicidad). No creo yo que sea absurdo pensar que la expresión tenga su origen en lo dicho por Aristófanes en Los caballeros: σπεῦδε ταχέως, «apresúrate deprisa», y creador de ella quien cambió el ἀναδίπλωσιν (pleonasmo) en ἐναντίωσιν (contradicción). Al colorido y elegancia de esta expresión añade no poco encanto la agradable y absoluta brevedad la cual me parece acertada en las joyas y especialmente en los adagios; en ambos, no sé por qué, influye admirablemente en su valor.

Si, pues, aprecias la sentencia vigorosa que esta corta brevedad de las palabras contiene, cuan rica sea, cuan profunda, cuan útil, cuan ampliamente válida en toda situación vital, enseguida y fácilmente serás de la opinión de que entre tan grande número de proverbios no hay ninguno tan digno de grabarse en todas las columnas, de inscribirse en las fachadas de todos los templos —y con letras de oro, por cierto—, de pintarse en las puertas de los palacios, grabarse en los anillos de los señores, de representarse en los centros religiosos y, finalmente, esculpirse siempre en todos los monumentos, de propagarse y darse a conocer de manera que siempre esté presente y delante de los ojos, porque su seguimiento es útil a todos los mortales.”

Tenían también los antiguos la idea de que el delfín era el más veloz de los animales marinos y por ello, en los emblemas de Francesco Colonna, cuando aparece enroscado a un áncora, significa detención de la velocidad, es decir, prudencia.”

When I am ready to take on disciples, you can probably find me somewhere along the stretch between Venice and San Diego, praying to Eris for surf. But joining me will entail sacrafices because a Discordian surfer will be prohibited from owning anything but a surfboard, trunks, a toothbrush, a beach towel and an automobile (maybe a hot rod or dune buggy). Because surfing is not just a sport; it's a lifestyle. And Discordianism is not just a religion; it is a mental illness."

Agradecimientos a los compañeros de SM ESCUCHA!

Siempre operando bajo muy diversos alias conceptuales, la extensa obra de Erik PseudoNovalis constituye un Corpus inabarcable, que, tras casi dos décadas de trayectoria, no se limita estrictamente al collage, sino que ha explorado y explora diversos ámbitos estéticos y disciplinas como la música experimental, el VideoArte, o más recientemente el uso de Inteligencia Artificial como herramienta creativa.

En su obra multidisciplinar, lo simbólico y lo Mágico conviven con muy diversas influencias tales como la Patafísica, el Discordianismo o La Iglesia del Subgenius, todo ello imbuido permanentemente del espíritu revolucionario propio del surrealismo y dadaísmo, la contracultura más marginal y occulta, y un marcado carácter futurista y Cyberpunk.

Con formación musical clásica y cientos de referencias en sellos nacionales e internacionales como  Nyapster, EMPTY 6 Pack, San José Tapes, Pedicure Records, Not Working Tapes, Ingrown Records o  AMDISCS, entre muchos otros; su música ha recorrido (reinventando y alglutinando de un modo sui generis) géneros como el noise rock, anti-música, acid folk, hypnagogic pop, krautrock, coqueteos con el vaporwave o en los últimos años oscilando desde su particular revisión de la música clásica bajo el prisma digital y electrónico, a la influencia de los memes, o nuevos experimentos de sampledelia y sintetizadores.

En los últimos años, ha publicado cuatro libros inspirados por el olvidado género de la Emblemática, en los que vuelca su pasión por el Simbolismo y la Alquimia: ARS SYMBOLICA 2000 (2017), EROS C’EST LA VIE! (2020), CAHIERS d’AMOUR FOU (2024) y el más reciente: ETHER (2025) Así mismo, también mediante la autoedición, han visto la luz numerosos fanzines en ediciones limitadas.

SUB ROSA: Like a Ship (... without a Sail)

Memento: EAT THE "BOB" !

BLEEDING HEAD GOOD! HEALED HEAD BAD!*

Slack was known to the Buddha - to Lao Tsé, to Jesus - to all the great Avatars.

But were they able to communicate it?

*The Slack that can be described is not the true Slack.

Slack, in its cosmic sense, is that which remains when all that is not Slack is taken away. But Slack is a trickster. It is unknowable, ineffable, unsearchable, incomprehensible... hidden in revelation. For Slack comprises the Universe. It is the Logos, the Tao, the Wor, the Ain Soph of the Qabbala. 

SubGeniuses are so disconnected from reality already, they can more easily vault the fissures in the brain-caves and see the roadmap in the randomness. They can get to that place where the PRIMAL INFORMATION STILLS REMEMBERS ITSELF. They can find "BOB". STOP LOOKING, and "Bob" will SUDDENLY SHOW UP, offering a Smoke.

Remember, "BOB" is not a "doer", but a "letter". He LETS things happpen. What is about to happen is, by perpetual magick coincidence, exactly what he desires. 

The way to avoid the pendulum spending too much of its 'swing' in the Bad Mood side is to make them into NEW, WEIRD, heretofore UNDISCOVERED MOODS: the so-called "Mood Exploration" that Doktors recommend. (Manic depression? That's just the Pink Witch Doctor's way of explaining a SubGenius who's become a mental Bodybuilder, an incredible Hulk of the emotions. He doesn't need Thorazine - he needs SLACK!) If you're going to change, you must KILL YOUR ENTIRE PREVIOUS LIFE - you must DIE to everything you have "known".
