Alan Smithee @ Night of Shorts Films (23rd June, London)

Fresh News!

The short film SKYNET SILICON PARTY
directed by Alan Smithee,
will be screened in a session of Comedy Short Films
(Yes... Comedy! IT'S ALL ABOUT UMOR!)

Organized by the team of directors MISTER TIBBS:

Despite multiple cataracts, three metal hips and an inflamed colon, Mr. Tibbs will be pulling out all the stops  to celebrate sixteen glorious comedy short film nights with one more. Trooping the colour, red or white wine, will be 8 shorts, 6 directors, 5 producers, and 43 actors.

Help us celebrate by raising a bagel, lighting a skip fire and donning gold hats... As we honour those brave film makers who risked overdrafts, landlords and multiple divorces to bring you a glittering array of free, new, and, by royal decree, short, short films.

And if you don't, you're a traitor.

but...  Who is Alan Smithee?

Alan Smithee is an official pseudonym used by film directors who wish to disown a project. Coined in 1968 by The Directors Guild of America (DGA) and used until it was formally discontinued in 2000.

Now under this alias we find the prolific Erik Hurtado, spanish electronic musician,  collage maker and also videoartist, who has been developing, almost secretly, his work on these fields for the last two decades, using several monikers such as Pseudobruitismus, Alien in Wonderland, Meme Vivaldi or more recently Opus Vivaldi.

Recovering the old technique of ‘found footage’ but in the Age of The Internet, stealing from many heterodox sources: horror movies, early CGI, 80s and 90s commercials, cartoons, Christian documentaries or New Age VHS among others… Mixing it all in a cyberpunk mindblowing hypnotic style which fits perfectly with his electronic compositions  as soundtrack.

And since past 2021 his last videos appear credited as directed by Alan Smithee,  a sincere tribute to bad movies, mistakes and trash cinema.
